There was no surprise when 15th ranked Cassino (4-10) was defeated at home by third ranked Salerno (9-4) 89-76 on Saturday. Salerno made 22-of-27 free shots (81.5 percent) during the game. Power forward Niccolo Rinaldi (198-93) fired 22 points for the winners. Swingman Antongiulio Bonaccorso (196-97) chipped in 20 points. The former international power forward Simone Bagnoli (205-81, agency: Interperformances) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points, 13 rebounds and 8 assists and guard Michael Teghini (192-92) added 16 points and 6 assists respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Despite that victory Salerno went down to fourth position (B) due to points difference. Loser Cassino dropped to the fourteenth place with ten games lost. They share the position with Crema and Bologna Basket. Salerno will meet at home R.Calabria (#9) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Cassino will play against R.Calabria (#9) in Reggio Calabria and hope to secure a win.
