Regular Season Round 9: Tskhum-Abkhazeti - Batumi 83-88

Another exciting game for Batumi (4-4) which played in Tbilisi against 5th ranked Tskhum-Abkhazeti (3-5). Sixth ranked Batumi won 88-83. It looked good early as Tskhum-Abkhazeti took a 2-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Batumi had a 26-22 second period charge getting the lead and Tskhum-Abkhazeti was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 83-88. It was a great shooting night for Batumi especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 68.8 percentage. Tskhum-Abkhazeti was plagued by 31 personal fouls down the stretch. The former international power forward Beka Bekauri (209-91, agency: BIG) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and American point guard Dennis Mavin (190-91, college: FIU) chipped in 18 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Four Batumi players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American Alex Peacock (201-97, college: Texas St.) with 22 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals and the other American import point guard Tyler Green (175-98, college: MSUB) scored 19 points. Tskhum-Abkhazeti's coach Irakli Dzidziguri rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Batumi have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Titebi. Tskhum-Abkhazeti lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh position with five games lost. They share it with Rustavi. Batumi will play against Titebi (#6) in Tbilisi in the next round. Tskhum-Abkhazeti's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tbilisi to the arena TSU.
