Regular Season Round 13: Valencia - Ensino 82-65

There was no surprise when 13th ranked Ensino (4-9) was defeated on the road by second ranked Valencia (11-2) 82-65 on Saturday. Valencia forced 24 Ensino turnovers. Australian guard Rebecca Allen (188-92, agency: LBM Management) stepped up and scored 19 points for the winners and German center Marie Guelich (194-94, college: Oregon St.) chipped in 12 points. Five Valencia players scored in double figures. At the losing side American center Chatrice White (190-96, college: FSU) responded with 16 points and Portuguese Sofia Gomes (188-90, college: Tallahassee) scored 10 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Valencia have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain second place with 11-2 record behind leader Avenida. Loser Ensino keeps the thirteenth position with nine games lost. They share it with Gran Canaria and Bembibre. Valencia will meet at home bottom-ranked Clarinos (#16) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Ensino will play against Araski and hope to secure a win.
