Regular Season Round 15: Gomel - SDUSHOR 101-52

Bottom-ranked SDUSHOR (0-14) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 101-52 loss to sixth ranked Gomel (8-6) in Gomel on Saturday evening. The game without a history. Gomel led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding SDUSHOR to just 6 points in second quarter. Gomel forced 37 SDUSHOR turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by SDUSHOR's players. It was a great evening for point guard Aliaksandr Yasevich (185-1) who led his team to a victory scoring 22 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Russian Danil Dyakov (205-0) helped adding 17 points and 9 rebounds. Four Gomel players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was forward Rostislav Makavchik (197-2) with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds and swingman Vladislav Pakhomov (190-5) scored 13 points and 5 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Gomel have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Impuls BGUIR. Loser SDUSHOR still closes the standings with 14 games lost. Gomel will meet at home Brest (#7) in the next round. SDUSHOR will play against Grodno GrSU and hopes to get finally their first victory.
