Regular Season Round 14: Inter Bratislava - Handlova 95-77

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 5th ranked Handlova (6-7) lost on the road to sixth ranked Inter Bratislava (6-7) 95-77 on Saturday. Inter Bratislava made 26-of-30 free shots (86.7 percent) during the game, while Handlova only scored seven points from the stripe. Inter Bratislava looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Puerto Rican point guard Ivan Gandia-Rosa (185-97, college: UNF) notched 24 points and 8 assists (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) to lead the effort and Lithuanian forward Dziugas Slavinskas (203-98, agency: Octagon Europe) supported him with 27 points and 6 rebounds. Even a double-double of 18 points and 10 rebounds by the former international center Michal Cekovsky (211-94, college: Maryland, agency: Octagon Europe) did not help to save the game for Handlova. American forward Deandre Abram (203-97, college: Milwaukee) added 19 points and 8 rebounds for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Inter Bratislava moved-up to fifth place, which they share with defeated Handlova. Inter Bratislava will meet at home higher ranked Spisski Rytieri (#4) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Handlova will play against the league's second-placed Komarno and hope to secure a win.
