Regular Season Round 9: Midtbyen - Asker 73-89

The game between Top Four teams took place in Trondheim. 4th placed host Midtbyen (5-4) lost to third ranked Asker (7-2) 89-73. Asker dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Midtbyen's 48. Asker forced 21 Midtbyen turnovers and outrebounded them 57-36 including a 23-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. The former international forward Ingrid Selvik (178-92) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 24 rebounds for the winners and Kristine Nyegaarden (176-95) chipped in 18 points, 8 rebounds and 10 assists. The best for the losing side was forward Kari Kyrkjebo (188-1, college: UC Riverside) with 20 points and 9 rebounds and Fredrikke Hylen (174-96) scored 10 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Midtbyen's coach rotated eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Asker have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Baerum. Newly promoted Midtbyen keeps the fourth position with four games lost. Asker is looking forward to face league's leader Ulriken in Bergen in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Midtbyen will have a break next round.
