Regular Season Round 9: RSU - Siauliu Siauliai 92-86

There was a minor upset when 5th ranked Lithuanian Siauliu Siauliai (5-5) lost to eighth ranked Latvian RSU (4-5) in Riga 86-92 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 6 points at the halftime before their 46-34 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Forward Marta Leimane (178-3) nailed 25 points for the winning side and swingman Anita Mikelsone (178-1) accounted for 14 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. American guard Donica Cosby (172-88, college: Okla City) came up with 28 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import guard Ahyiona Vason (163-97, college: UNCW) added 20 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for Siauliu Siauliai in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. RSU maintains eighth place with 4-5 record. Loser Siauliu Siauliai dropped to the sixth position with five games lost. RSU's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Riga BJBS RJ.
