Very expected game in Rishon Le-Zion where 12th ranked Maccabi Rishon (2-8) was rolled over by fifth ranked Bnei Hasharon (6-4) 94-64 on Monday. Bnei Hasharon made 25-of-30 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. Bnei Hasharon outrebounded Maccabi Rishon 47-34 including a 35-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Bnei Hasharon made 11 blocks. The former international Shawn Dawson (198-93) scored 23 points and 7 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and American Chris Babb (196-90, college: Iowa St.) chipped in 19 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Five Bnei Hasharon players scored in double figures. At the losing side American point guard Maurice Watson (178-93, college: Creighton) responded with 13 points and 5 assists and his fellow American import forward Diamon Simpson (204-87, college: St.Mary's, CA) scored 7 points and 11 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Bnei Hasharon moved-up to third place, which they share with H.Holon and H.Galil Elion. Loser Maccabi Rishon stay at the bottom position with eight games lost. Bnei Hasharon will meet Galil Gilboa (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Maccabi Rishon will play against the league's leader Hapoel Jerusalem and hope to secure a win.
