There was a minor upset when 7th ranked Brest (6-8) was defeated on the road by ninth ranked Grodno GrSU (3-11) 71-64 on Tuesday. The hosts trailed by 11 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 71-64. Grodno GrSU forced 22 Brest turnovers. It was a great evening for point guard Dmitriy Mahnach (180-1) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds. Forward Dmitriy Naumenko (195-3) helped adding 12 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Grodno GrSU players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was point guard Timofey Karpuk (185-2) with 13 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals and forward Konstantin Andreev (190-4) scored 14 points and 6 rebounds. Grodno GrSU moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Tsmoki-Minsk U20. Loser Brest keeps the seventh position with eight games lost. Grodno GrSU will meet at home bottom-ranked SDUSHOR (#10) in the next round. Brest will play against Gomel and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
