There was a surprise result when eleventh ranked Hapoel Eilat (4-7) beat at home 4th placed Galil Elion (6-5) 94-87 on Monday. Hapoel Eilat made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. It was an exceptional evening for American power forward Justin Patton (216-97, college: Creighton) who led the winners and scored 28 points, 9 rebounds and 4 blocks (on 11-of-12 shooting from the field). International point guard Roi Huber (188-97) accounted for 20 points and 9 assists for the winning side. Nigerian point guard Ike Iroegbu (188-95, college: WSU) came up with 21 points and center Gabriel Chachashvili (212-99) added 15 points and 5 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) respectively for Galil Elion in the defeat. Five Hapoel Eilat and four Galil Elion players scored in double figures. Hapoel Eilat moved-up to ninth place, which they share with H.Galil Gilboa and H.Beer Sheva. Galil Elion lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the fifth position with five games lost. They share it with I.Nes-Ziona. Hapoel Eilat will meet higher ranked Hapoel Tel-Aviv (#8) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Galil Elion will play against Maccabi Rishon and hope to secure a win.
