Regular Season Round 14: Cholet - Dijon 85-76

Bottom-ranked Cholet Basket managed to get a fourth victory, breaking the six-game losing streak on Monday night. This time they won against eighth-ranked JDA Dijon 85-76. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of JDA Dijon. Cholet Basket shot 63.3 percent from the field. They outrebounded JDA Dijon 33-16 including a 26-11 advantage in defensive rebounds. Cholet Basket shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 62.5 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The best player for the winners was American-Hungarian point guard Darrin Govens (185-88, college: St.Joseph's) who scored 17 points (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!). Power forward Yoan Makoundou (206-0) chipped in 17 points and 5 rebounds. Cholet Basket's coach Laurent Vila used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American point guard David Holston (173-86, college: Chicago St.) produced 18 points, 8 assists and 6 steals and Trinidad and Tobago-American Khadeen Carrington (193-95, college: Seton Hall) added 13 points and 6 assists respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Cholet Basket (4-10) moved-up to sixteenth place, which they share with Chalons-Reims. Loser JDA Dijon dropped to the ninth position with seven games lost. Cholet Basket will meet at home higher ranked ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket (#7) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. JDA Dijon will play against Le Mans and will have a slim chance for a victory.
