There was no surprise when 8th ranked Holon (3-9) was defeated on the road by fourth ranked Ashdod (8-4) 67-61 on Tuesday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Ashdod looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The game was also dominated by American players. Guard Allison Hightower (178-88, college: LSU) stepped up and scored 14 points, 8 assists and 4 steals for the winners and guard Victoria Vivians (185-94, college: MSU) chipped in 14 points and 7 rebounds. Four Ashdod players scored in double figures. At the losing side center Danielle Adams (185-89, college: Texas A&M) responded with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 11 rebounds and guard Alexis Jones (175-94, college: Baylor, agency: LBM Management) scored 14 points and 6 assists. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Ashdod. They moved-up to third place. Holon lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the eighth position with nine games lost. They share it with Hertzeliya. Ashdod will meet Ramat H. (#5) in the next round. Holon will play against Petah Tikva and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
