Regular Season Round 17: Plasencia - Celta Zorka 66-84

Rather predictable result when tenth ranked Celta Zorka (8-8) defeated on the road 14th ranked Plasencia (4-13) 84-66 on Saturday. Celta Zorka forced 22 Plasencia turnovers. Russian power forward Maria Davydova (190-93, college: FIU) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds for the winners and American forward Maggie Mulligan (189-95, college: UMass) chipped in 17 points and 7 rebounds. Celta Zorka's coach Cristina Cantero used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Kamilah Jackson (183-92, college: Hawaii) responded with 11 points and 6 rebounds and Bulgarian point guard Karina Konstantinova (173-99) scored 15 points. Celta Zorka moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Lima-Horta. Plasencia at the other side keeps the fourteenth position with 13 games lost. Celta Zorka is looking forward to face higher ranked Granada (#5) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Plasencia will play against Maresme (#16) in Barcelona and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
