Regular Season Round 13: Gijon - Burgos 77-72

The most shocking disappointment of round 13 in the LEB Silver was a road defeat of 4th placed Burgos (8-5) to eighth ranked Gijon (6-7) 77-72. Gijon outrebounded Burgos 40-28 including 17 on the offensive glass. American-Dominican guard Quarry Greenaway (193-94, college: JWU, RI) stepped up and scored 14 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and swingman Unai Mendicote (196-99) chipped in 16 points and 9 rebounds. Four Gijon players scored in double figures. Gijon's coach Guillermo Arenas used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side guard Didac Cuevas (178-0) responded with 21 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists and Swedish Peter Stumer (198-99, college: Maine, agency: Global Sports Basketball) scored 21 points. Gijon maintains eighth place in Silver with 6-7 record. Burgos at the other side dropped to the fifth position with five games lost. Gijon are looking forward to face league's leader Zornotza in Amorebieta-Echano in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Burgos will play on the road against Clavijo (#11) in Logrono and is hoping to win this game.
