Regular Season Round 17: Challans - Stade Rochelais 85-78

There was an upset when higher ranked La Rochelle (9-9) lost on the road to thirteenth ranked Vendee Challans (5-12) 85-78 on Saturday. Vendee Challans made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Point guard Thibault Desseignet (178-98) nailed 19 points (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) for the winning side and Serbian-Montenegrin center Nemanja Kovanusic (204-93) accounted for 12 points and 10 rebounds. British V.Islands forward Norville Carey (201-93, college: Rider, agency: BIG) came up with 19 points and 9 rebounds and guard Gaetan Clerc (189-91) added 13 points and 7 assists (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) respectively for La Rochelle in the defeat. Five Vendee Challans and four La Rochelle players scored in double figures. Vendee Challans moved-up to twelfth place in Group A, which they share with Rennes. Loser La Rochelle dropped to the ninth position with nine games lost. Vendee Challans will meet higher ranked Toulouse (#8) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. La Rochelle will play against Rueil and will have a slim chance for a victory.
