Regular Season Round 18: Anwil - Stal 107-88
Date: January 8, 2022
The game between Top Four teams took place in Wloclawek. Second ranked host Anwil (14-4) smashed 3rd ranked Stal (12-5) 107-88. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Stal. Anwil players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Stal's players. American guard Jonah Mathews (190-98, college: USC) notched 38 points (!!!) and 5 assists to lead the effort and American-Palestinian Kyndall Dykes (192-87, college: New Orleans, agency: Slash Sports) supported him with 19 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Dykes is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Even 15 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists by the former international power forward Damian Kulig (205-87, agency: BeoBasket) did not help to save the game for Stal. American point guard Kobi Simmons (196-97, college: Arizona) added 20 points and 5 rebounds. Four Anwil and five Stal players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Anwil have a solid four-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Czarni. Defending champion Stal keeps the third place with five games lost. Anwil will play against Enea Astoria (#10) in Bydgoszcz in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Stal will play at home against the league's leader Czarni (#1) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
