Regular Season Round 11: Hainaut - Lyon 45-67
Date: January 8, 2022
No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Lyon (7-4) crushed 8th ranked Hainaut (4-7) in Saint-Amand 67-45 on Saturday. Lyon held Hainaut to an opponent 23.4 percent shooting from the field compared to 42.9 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Hainaut 48-31 including a 36-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Lyon looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was an exceptional evening for the former international swingman Sara Chevaugeon (177-93, agency: Basket Promotion Agency) who led the winners and scored 18 points. International power forward Alexia Chartereau (189-98) accounted for 10 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side. Four Lyon players scored in double figures. Lyon's coach Pierre Vincent felt very confident using 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. The former international point guard Pauline Lithard (168-94, agency: Basket Promotion Agency) came up with 11 points and American point guard Janee Thompson (170-93, college: Kentucky) added 12 points (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) respectively for Hainaut in the defeat. Lyon moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Villeneuve. Loser Hainaut keeps the eighth position with seven games lost. They share it with BLMA. Lyon will meet Bretagne (#10) in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Hainaut will play against Angers and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
