Rather predictable result when ninth ranked Estonian Tallina U. (5-10) won against on the road 11th ranked Latvian Daugavpils Universitate (2-10) 86-81 on Sunday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Daugavpils Universitate won third quarter 27-25. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Tallina U. won last quarter 22-18. The winners were led by power forward Laina Mesila-Kaarmann (186-87) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds and guard Merike Anderson (180-81) supported her with 24 points and 6 assists. Four Tallina U. players scored in double figures. Even 29 points and 7 rebounds by Latvian center Valerija Baranovska (177-3) did not help to save the game for Daugavpils Universitate. American Isis Lane (190-98, college: FMU) added 22 points and 11 rebounds. Tallina U. have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain ninth position with 5-10 record. Daugavpils Universitate lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the eleventh place with ten games lost. Tallina U. will meet at home higher ranked Aistes-LSMU (#5) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Daugavpils Universitate will play against BJBS RJ (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
