Regular Season Round 12: Latvija U16 - RSU 2 71-90

One of the most interesting games of round 12 was a derby match between two teams from Latvia. The game took place in Riga where top-ranked RSU 2 outleveled host Latvija U16 (5-4) 90-71. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Latvija U16. The game was mostly controlled by RSU 2. Latvija U16 was better in second period 20-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. RSU 2 forced 26 Latvija U16 turnovers. Strangely Latvija U16 outrebounded RSU 2 45-33 including 31 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Enija Viksne (178-4) who helped to win the game recording 12 points, 9 rebounds, 9 assists and 6 steals and forward Una Steinharde (170-1) who added 23 points and 4 steals during the contest. Four RSU 2 players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was center Evelina Otto (187-6) with 13 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Megija Zeltina (180-6) scored 12 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. RSU 2 (9-0) have an impressive nine-game winning streak. They maintain first position with a perfect record of 9 victories in a row. Latvija U16 at the other side keeps the fourth place with four games lost. RSU 2's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Riga to the arena Ogres.
