Very expected game when 9th ranked Reggio Emilia (6-8) lost at home to second ranked Virtus BO (11-3) 90-81 on Sunday. Virtus BO looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. It was an exceptional evening for Serbian point guard Milos Teodosic (195-87) who led the winners and scored 18 points and 9 assists. Naturalized Bosnian Amar Alibegovic (206-95, college: St.John's, agency: Interperformances) accounted for 19 points and 7 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) for the winning side. Five Virtus BO players scored in double figures. American forward Mikael Hopkins (206-93, college: Georgetown) came up with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds and Lithuanian Osvaldas Olisevicius (200-93) added 25 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Reggio Emilia in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Defending champion maintains second place with 11-3 record having just two points less than leader Milano. Loser Reggio Emilia dropped to the eleventh position with eight games lost. Virtus BO will meet at home Trento (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Reggio Emilia will play against Napoli (#6) and hope to secure a win.
