Regular Season Round 13: Jelgava - Ridzene 39-80

Rather predictable result when fourth ranked Ridzene (6-3) smashed on the road 7th ranked Jelgava (4-7) 80-39 on Thursday. The game without a history. Ridzene led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Jelgava's 22. Ridzene forced 34 Jelgava turnovers. Latvian Liva Krumina (184-3) fired 16 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Latvian guard Elina Briede (167-5) chipped in 13 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Four Ridzene players scored in double figures. Latvian guard Laura Zambrane (176-2) produced 8 points and Latvian Loreta Beitane (183-3) added 8 points respectively for lost side. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ridzene maintains fourth place with 6-3 record. Jelgava lost their seventh game in a row. They keep the seventh position with seven games lost. Ridzene will meet Dimantu ak. (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Jelgava will play against Saldus (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
