Regular Season Round 13: RSU 2 - BJBS R/J 93-36

One of the most interesting games of round 13 was a derby match between two teams from Latvia. The game took place in Riga where leader RSU 2 outleveled visiting BJBS R/J (7-4) 93-36. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of BJBS R/J. The game without a history. RSU 2 led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding BJBS R/J to just 3 points in fourth quarter and to 12 points in second half. RSU 2 held BJBS R/J to an opponent 22.4 percent shooting from the field compared to 44.8 percent accuracy of the winners. RSU 2 forced 28 BJBS R/J turnovers and outrebounded them 53-32 including a 36-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by BJBS R/J's players. Center Elina Siceva (185-2) fired a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Forward Una Steinharde (170-1) chipped in 18 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Five RSU 2 players scored in double figures. Guard Elina Krupina (165-4) produced 12 points and Estonian forward Annija Brence (179-6) added 10 points respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the eleventh consecutive win for RSU 2. They maintain first place with 11-0 record. Loser BJBS R/J keeps the third position with four games lost. RSU 2 will meet at home Jurmala (#6) in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. BJBS R/J's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Riga to the arena BJBS RJ 2.
