Leading Zornotza (10-3) recorded its third loss on the court of eighth ranked Gijon. Visitors were edged by Gijon 66-65. Javier Lucas (207-86) notched 9 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks to lead the effort and American-Dominican guard Quarry Greenaway (193-94, college: JWU, RI) supported him with 13 points and 4 assists. Four Gijon players scored in double figures. Even 11 points and 5 assists by guard Alberto Cabrera (187-98) did not help to save the game for Zornotza. Forward Borja Mendia (200-94) added 9 points and 6 rebounds for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Gijon maintains eighth position in Silver with 7-7 record. Zornotza at the other side still keeps top place with three games lost. Gijon will play against higher ranked Ponferrada (#7) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Zornotza will play against Clavijo (#12) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
