Regular Season Round 17: Grodno GrSU - Gomel 85-84

The most exciting game of round 17 in the Premier League took place in Grodno. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 5th ranked Gomel (9-7) to eighth ranked Grodno GrSU (5-11) 85-84 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Gomel. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Gomel won fourth quarter 26-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Grodno GrSU forced 24 Gomel turnovers. Strangely Gomel outrebounded Grodno GrSU 48-30 including a 18-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Point guard Anton Gaidel (182-3) stepped up and scored 28 points, 9 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals for the winners and forward Dmitriy Naumenko (195-3) chipped in 10 points and 7 rebounds. Swingman Yegor Dudov (192-98) responded with 22 points and 9 rebounds and point guard Aliaksandr Yasevich (185-1) scored 18 points and 6 rebounds. Four Gomel players scored in double figures. Grodno GrSU have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain eighth place with 5-11 record. Gomel at the other side keeps the fifth position with seven games lost. Grodno GrSU are looking forward to face higher ranked Brest (#7) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Gomel will play against SDUSHOR in Minsk and is hoping to win this game.
