There was a surprise result when twelfth ranked Barbera (2-10) won against higher ranked Valls (8-4) in Barcelona 76-69 on Saturday. The winners were led by forward Miquel Segarra (200-0) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds and point guard Bernat Alvarez (176-95) supported him with 13 points. Barbera's coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Even a double-double of 18 points and 10 rebounds by naturalized Brazilian forward Marcus Vinicius (201-86) did not help to save the game for Valls. Bulgarian guard Boris Voykov (193-0, agency: Interperformances) added 17 points and 6 rebounds for lost side. Barbera moved-up to eleventh place in Group C-1, which they share with UE Horta. Loser Valls keeps the fourth position with four games lost. They share it with Salou. Barbera will meet higher ranked Salou (#4) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Valls will play against the league's second-placed Castelldefels having rather not much hope for a victory.
