Regular Season Round 16: Alvik Basket - Visby 69-84

Rather predictable result when fifth ranked Visby Ladies (10-5) won against 7th ranked Alvik Basket (8-7) in Stockholm 84-69 on Sunday. Visby Ladies made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The winners were led by American Jessica Kelliher (183-97, college: Lewis) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 24 points and 13 rebounds and the other American import guard Davion Wingate (168, college: FGCU) supported her with 19 points. Even 15 points and 8 rebounds by the former international forward Elin Ljunggren (185-96) did not help to save the game for Alvik Basket. American guard Dara Taylor (171-91, college: Penn St.) added 13 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals (made all of her seven free throws) for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Alvik Basket's coach Fotios Ioannidis rotated ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Visby Ladies moved-up to fourth place, which they share with A3 Basket. Loser Alvik Basket keeps the seventh position with seven games lost. Visby Ladies will meet at home higher ranked Dolphins (#3) in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Alvik Basket will play against the league's leader Lulea Basket (#1) and hope to secure a win.
