Regular Season Round 19: Stal - Czarni 82-83

The most exciting game of round 19 in the EBL took place in Ostrow Wlkp.. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of 3rd placed Stal (12-6) to first ranked Czarni (15-4) 83-82 on Sunday evening. Czarni looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American guard Marcus Lewis (196-92, college: EKU) fired 22 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Canadian point guard Marek Klassen (185-92, college: PLNU) chipped in 18 points and 5 assists. Four Czarni players scored in double figures. The former international power forward Damian Kulig (205-87, agency: BeoBasket) produced 18 points and 5 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and American power forward Michael Young (206-94, college: Pittsburgh) added 9 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists respectively for lost side. Stal's coach Igor Milicic rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Czarni have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain first place with 15-4 record. Defending champion Stal keeps the third position with six games lost. They share it with Twarde Pierniki. Czarni are looking forward to face Enea Astoria (#10) in Bydgoszcz in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Stal will play on the road against Wilki Morskie (#9) in Szczecin and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
