Regular Season Round 16: Costa Masnaga - Ragusa 62-80

There was no surprise when 10th ranked Costa Masnaga (4-10) was defeated at home by fourth ranked Ragusa (10-3) 80-62. Ragusa dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Costa Masnaga's 24. Ragusa forced 19 Costa Masnaga turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. It was a very good performance for American forward Asia Taylor (188-91, college: Louisville) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points and 16 rebounds. Finnish-Egyptian center Awak Kuier (195-1) contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 16 rebounds for the winners. Four Ragusa players scored in double figures. The former international Matilde Villa (172-4) replied with 7 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists and Luxembourg forward Lisa Jablonowski (192-97, college: Virginia) added 7 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Costa Masnaga. Costa Masnaga's coach Paolo Seletti rotated eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Ragusa have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Bologna. Costa Masnaga at the other side keeps the tenth position with ten games lost. Ragusa will play against league's second-placed Venezia on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Costa Masnaga will play against San Giovanni (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
