Regular Season Round 16: Le Mans - ASVEL 80-81

Important game to mention about took place in Le Mans. Seventh ranked ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket (9-6) saved a 1-point victory on the road edging one of their biggest challengers Le Mans (9-6) 81-80 in the fight for the fifth place. ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Le Mans' 34. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international guard Elie Okobo (191-97) who helped to win the game recording 13 points and 7 assists and American center James Gist (206-86, college: Maryland, agency: Network Sports International) who added 10 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American center TaShawn Thomas (203-93, college: Oklahoma, agency: Pensack Sports) responded with 12 points and 8 rebounds and Canadian point guard Kaza Kajami-Keane (185-94, college: Carleton, agency: BeoBasket) scored 13 points and 7 assists. Five Le Mans players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Defending champion moved-up to fifth place, which they share with defeated Le Mans. ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket will play against Chorale de Roanne (#9) at home in the next round. Le Mans will play against Provence Basket (#16) in Fos-sur-Mer and hopes to get back on the winning track.
