Regular Season Round 12: Peristeri - AEK 101-81

There was a minor upset when higher ranked AEK (5-6) was smashed by ninth ranked Peristeri (5-6) in Athens 101-81 on Sunday. The game without a history. Peristeri led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Peristeri shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 53.6 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The winners were led by the former international guard Dimitris Katsivelis (195-91) who scored that evening 14 points and 6 assists and American forward Terran Petteway (198-92, college: Nebraska) supported him with 18 points. Even 14 points and 9 rebounds by American forward Eric Griffin (203-90, college: Campbell) did not help to save the game for AEK. His fellow American import Ian Hummer (201-90, college: Princeton) added 14 points and 7 rebounds. Four Peristeri and five AEK players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Peristeri moved-up to fifth place, which they share with AEK and Lavrio. Peristeri will meet Lavrio (#6) on the road in the next round. AEK will play against PAOK and hope to secure a win.
