The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Polkowice as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Polkowice smashed 3rd ranked Wroclaw at home 85-48. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Wroclaw. They outrebounded Wroclaw 53-26 including a 21-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. Polkowice looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Wroclaw's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Polkowice made 8 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of Zimbabwean-American center Stephanie Mavunga (191-95, college: Ohio St., agency: LBM Management) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points and 21 rebounds and American point guard Erica Wheeler (170-91, college: Rutgers) who added 15 points and 7 assists during the contest. Polkowice's coach Karol Kowalewski felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side swingman Monika Jasnowska (182-92) responded with 22 points and 7 rebounds and the former international guard Julia Drop (174-95) scored 8 points and 4 assists. Polkowice (11-2) have an impressive seven-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Wroclaw at the other side keeps the third place with five games lost. Wroclaw will play next round against Arka Gdynia trying to get back on the winning streak. Polkowice will try to continue on its current victory against eleventh ranked GTK Gdynia on the road.
