Very expected game when 12th ranked Charnay (2-10) was defeated on the road by fifth ranked Villeneuve D'Ascq (8-4) 72-62 on Sunday. Strangely Charnay outrebounded Villeneuve D'Ascq 32-20 including 22 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was Ivorian center Kariata Diaby (192-95) who scored 21 points and 8 rebounds. The former international point guard Caroline Heriaud (165-96, agency: Basket Promotion Agency) chipped in 11 points and 4 assists. Villeneuve D'Ascq's coach Rachid Meziane allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Taya Reimer (193-95, college: Michigan St., agency: Shark Sports Management) who recorded 16 points and 5 rebounds and guard Zoe Wadoux (178-1, agency: Basket Promotion Agency) added 9 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists respectively. Villeneuve D'Ascq moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Lyon. Charnay lost seventh consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with ten games lost. Villeneuve D'Ascq will meet Gazelles (#9) in the next round where they are favorite. Charnay will play against the league's second-placed Basket Landes and hope to secure a win.
