Regular Season Round 16: Hamar - Fjolnir 94-107

Rather predictable result when fifth ranked Fjolnir (10-6) defeated on the road 9th ranked Hamar (3-12) 107-94 on Monday. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Fjolnir's pressure prevailed and they won that period 24-18 extending their advantage to 13 points. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. Slovenian point guard Mirza Sarajlija (187-91) fired 33 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. American forward D.J. Foreman (203-94, college: St.Louis) chipped in 30 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Fjolnir players scored in double figures. American guard Dee Franklin (196-92, college: FVSU) produced 46 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds and naturalized Polish center Maciek Klimaszewski (205-95) added 11 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Hamar's coach Rui Costa tested eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Fjolnir have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place. Loser Hamar keeps the ninth position with 12 games lost. Fjolnir will meet at home league's second-placed Hottur in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Hamar will play against the league's leader Haukar (#1) in Hafnarfjordur and hope to secure a win.
