Regular Season Round 14: IR - Tindastoll 81-54

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked IR as it allowed them to take a leadership position. IR smashed 9th ranked Tindastoll in Reykjavik 81-54. The game was mostly controlled by IR. Tindastoll managed to win fourth quarter 18-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strangely Tindastoll outrebounded IR 49-33 including 38 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Tindastoll's players. The best player for the winners was point guard Irena Jonsdottir (161-97) who scored 31 points and 6 rebounds. Center Nina Kristjansdottir (188-96) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 blocks. American forward Maddie Sutton (180-98, college: Tusculum) produced a double-double by scoring 26 points and 28 rebounds and swingman Anna Hjartardottir (176-5) added 7 points respectively for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Armann. Tindastoll at the other side dropped to the eighth place with seven games lost. They share the position with Stjarnan. Tindastoll will play next round against strong Snaefell trying to get back on the winning streak. IR will try to continue on its current victory against eleventh ranked Vestri in Isafjordur.
