Regular Season Round 19: Kouvot - Pyrinto 95-103

The game between second ranked Kouvot (13-6) and seventh ranked Pyrinto (9-9) was the most important one in the last round on Saturday night. Kouvot was defeated by Pyrinto in a tough game in Kouvola 95-103. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Kouvot. Kouvot was trailing by 1 point at halftime but managed to get 4-point lead after three quarters before a 34-22 charge of Pyrinto, which allowed them to win the game. They made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Ike Smith (193-97, college: Georgia South) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds. Swingman Osku Heinonen (194-92) contributed with 19 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Pyrinto's coach Miikka Sopanen used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American-Syrian guard Amir Hinton (196-97, college: Shaw) answered with 23 points and Sudanese swingman Makuach Maluach (196-98, college: N.Mexico) added 21 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Kouvot. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Pyrinto have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to sixth place. Kouvot at the other side dropped to the third position with six games lost.
