Very important is a road loss of third ranked Alcala (11-6) against fourth ranked Rivas (10-6) on Saturday night. Visiting Alcala was defeated by Rivas in a tough game in Rivas 82-86. The best player for the winners was swingman Albert Serra (193-93) who scored 23 points (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). American center Julien Sargent (211-91, college: Mobile, AL) chipped in 15 points and 6 rebounds. Forward Carlos Unanue (193-0) produced 29 points and 5 assists and guard Oscar Mendez (182-0) added 19 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Rivas maintains fourth place in Group B with 10-6 record. Loser Alcala keeps the third position with six games lost. Rivas will meet Alcobendas (#5) on the road in the next round. Alcala will play against Majadahonda and hope to secure a win.
