No shocking result in a game when third ranked Jairis (14-4) crushed 9th ranked Ardoi (9-10) in Alcantarilla 71-49 on Saturday. Jairis outrebounded Ardoi 35-22 including a 24-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for Brazilian center Erika De Souza (197-82) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 14 rebounds. Samoan forward Geralynn Leaupepe (180-96) accounted for 10 points for the winning side. Four Jairis players scored in double figures. Jairis' coach Victor Verdu felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Argentinian center Diana Cabrera (186-93) came up with 12 points and 6 rebounds and point guard Itziar Arregui (173-91) added 12 points respectively for Ardoi in the defeat. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Jairis. They maintain third place with 14-4 record having just one point less than leader Barca CBS. Loser Ardoi keeps the ninth position with ten games lost. Jairis will meet Zamarat (#4) in the next round. Ardoi will play against the league's second-placed Alcobendas (#2) and hope to secure a win.
