There was an upset when higher ranked Guadalajara (8-7) was defeated on the road by eleventh ranked Socuellamos (7-9) 78-69 on Saturday. The best player for the winners was American guard Jordan Hickman (201-96, college: Sonoma St.) who scored 19 points. Canadian point guard Adrian Armstrong (183, college: Concordia) chipped in 14 points. Four Socuellamos players scored in double figures. Socuellamos' coach Gabriel Martinez used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Venezuelan power forward Luis Valera (202-88, college: UTRGV) produced 20 points and forward Eduardo Gomez (192-93) added 13 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. Socuellamos moved-up to tenth place in Group B. Loser Guadalajara dropped to the sixth position with seven games lost. Socuellamos will meet Quintanar (#11) on the road in the next round. Guadalajara will play against Estudiantes B (#15) in Madrid and hope to secure a win.
