There was an upset when leader Almeria (10-4) was defeated on the road by ninth ranked El Pinar (6-6) 80-74 on Saturday. El Pinar made 26-of-28 free shots (92.9 percent) during the game. El Pinar outrebounded Almeria 42-30 including 28 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was naturalized Brazilian guard Carlinhos Cobos (193-88) who scored 16 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!). Guard Angel Martin (188-88) chipped in 9 points and 12 rebounds. El Pinar's coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Point guard Luis Rueda (186-96) produced 18 points and 6 assists and Chadian center Edmond Koyanouba (207-95) added 14 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the guests. El Pinar have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to sixth place in Group D-A, which they share with Estepona. Loser Almeria still keeps top position with four games lost.
