There was no surprise when 12th ranked Brod na Savi (1-11) was defeated on the road by third ranked Pozega (10-2) 80-66 on Saturday. Pozega looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. DR Congolese power forward La Mama Kapinga Maweja (194-97, agency: LBM Management) fired a double-double by scoring 25 points and 15 rebounds for the winners. The former international center Emilija Podrug (190-79) chipped in 16 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Four Pozega players scored in double figures. American center Ashanti Thomas (193-97, college: Butler) produced a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds and the other American import forward Shanice Johnson (183-94, college: Cincinnati) added 14 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals respectively for lost side. Pozega have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with 3 other teams. Newly promoted Brod na Savi stay at the bottom place with 11 games lost. Pozega is looking forward to face KAZL Split (#5) on the road in the next round.
