Regular Season Round 16: Ragusa - Taranto 76-84

There was a minor upset when 6th ranked Ragusa (9-7) was defeated at home by eighth ranked Taranto (9-7) 84-76 on Sunday. Taranto outrebounded Ragusa 43-29 including a 41-26 advantage in defensive rebounds. Power forward Riziero Ponziani (204-94) fired a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Swingman Alberto Conti (195-98) chipped in 16 points and 5 rebounds. Guard Andrea Sorrentino (190-90) produced 21 points and swingman Andrea Picarelli (196-96, agency: SLN) added 11 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Five Taranto and four Ragusa players scored in double figures. Ragusa's coach Antonio Bocchino rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Taranto moved-up to fifth place in B, which they share with Vicenza and Desio. Taranto will meet at home Sant Antimo (#5) in the next round. Ragusa will play against the league's second-placed Bisceglie and hope to secure a win.
