Regular Season Round 14: Breidablik - KR 135-87
Date: January 24, 2022
We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Kopavogur where 9th ranked KR (6-6) was crushed by tenth ranked Breidablik (5-8) 135-87 on Monday. The game without a history. Breidablik led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Breidablik forced 21 KR turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was American guard Everage Richardson (191-85, college: Coastal) who had a double-double by scoring 26 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Guard Hilmar Petursson (190-0) chipped in 27 points and 6 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Five Breidablik players scored in double figures. Forward Thorvaldur Arnason (198-2) produced 19 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and Danish guard Adama Darboe (190-86, agency: Slash Sports) added 20 points respectively for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Newly promoted Breidablik maintains tenth position with 5-8 record. Loser KR dropped to the eighth place with six games lost. Breidablik will meet league's second-placed Keflavik on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. KR will play against the league's leader Njardvik (#1) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
