Regular Season Round 16: Victoria - Olimpia 34-115

The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Grodno: Olimpia (#3) and Victoria (#4). Victoria was smashed at home by 81 points 34-115 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. The game without a history. Olimpia led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Victoria to just 5 points in fourth quarter. Olimpia dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Victoria's 24. Olimpia forced 32 Victoria turnovers and outrebounded them 48-24 including a 19-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Victoria's players. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Evgenia Bernatskaya (170-5) who helped to win the game recording 16 points, 8 assists and 5 steals. Center Palina Damianiak (190-5) contributed with 13 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Five Olimpia players scored in double figures. Maria Liaskouskaia replied with 10 points and forward Anastasia Feklistova (178-2) added 9 points in the effort for Victoria. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Olimpia maintains third position with 11-3 record having five points less than leader Gorizont. Victoria at the other side keeps the fourth place with seven games lost. Olimpia are looking forward to face league's leader Gorizont in Minsk in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Victoria will play on the road against Gomel and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
