Regular Season Round 14: KR - Grindavik 83-81

A very close game took place in Reykjavik between KR and Grindavik. Ninth ranked KR (6-6) got a very close home victory over higher ranked Grindavik (7-6). KR managed to escape with a 2-point win 83-81 on Friday evening. The hosts trailed by 7 points after three quarters before their 25-16 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Strangely Grindavik outrebounded KR 49-24 including a 20-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Danish guard Adama Darboe (190-86, agency: Slash Sports) who scored 20 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Croatian forward Dani Koljanin (202-96, college: UALR) chipped in 14 points and 6 rebounds. American guard EC Matthews (196-94, college: URI, agency: Duran International) produced 24 points and 6 rebounds and Spanish forward Ivan Aurrecoechea (203-95, college: NM State) added 14 points and 14 rebounds respectively for the guests. Four KR and five Grindavik players scored in double figures. KR moved-up to eighth place. Loser Grindavik dropped to the sixth position with six games lost. KR will meet league's leader Njardvik on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Grindavik will play against Tindastoll (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
