Regular Season Round 20: Rubon - Grodno 87-93

The most important game in the last round took place in Vitebsk between third ranked Rubon (13-7) and fourth ranked Grodno (13-6) on Saturday night. Rubon was defeated by Grodno in a tough game at home 87-93. The guests trailed by 15 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 6 points. Grodno looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Serbian power forward Nikola Djuric (203-91) who helped to win the game recording 23 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Kirill Chumakov (197-95) who added 6 points, 14 rebounds and 8 assists during the contest. Four Grodno players scored in double figures. The former international guard Maksim Shustov (188-86) responded with 17 points and 6 assists and guard Konstantin Satsuk (193-0) scored 16 points and 7 rebounds. Rubon's coach Ruslan Baidakov rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Grodno have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place. Rubon at the other side dropped to the fourth position with seven games lost. Grodno are looking forward to face Tsmoki-Minsk U20 (#9) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Rubon will play against the league's second-placed Tsmoki II (#2) in Minsk and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
