Regular Season Round 15: BJBS RJ - Kibirkstis 35-89

No shocking result in a game when second ranked Lithuanian Kibirkstis (12-1) crushed 11th ranked Latvian BJBS RJ (2-14) in Riga 89-35 on Saturday. The game without a history. Kibirkstis led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding BJBS RJ to just 2 points in third quarter and to 13 points in second half. Kibirkstis held BJBS RJ to an opponent 24.6 percent shooting from the field compared to 49.3 percent accuracy of the winners. Kibirkstis forced 19 BJBS RJ turnovers and outrebounded them 51-23 including a 17-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was an exceptional evening for forward Egle Zabotkaite (180-0) who led the winners and scored 20 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Karolina Kazociunaite (180-99) accounted for 18 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side. Latvian center Nikola Priede (186-3) came up with 11 points and 5 rebounds and Carlote Petersone added 4 points and 5 rebounds respectively for BJBS RJ in the defeat. BJBS RJ's coach gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Defending Lithuanian champion maintains second place with 12-1 record having five points less than leader RSU 2. BJBS RJ lost their tenth game in a row. They keep the eleventh position with 14 games lost. Kibirkstis will meet Liepaja/LSSS (#4) on the road in the next round. BJBS RJ will play against Aistes-LSMU (#5) and hope to secure a win.
