No shocking result in a game in Barcelona where eleventh ranked Almeda (6-8) defeated 14th ranked Marratxi (1-14) 54-36 on Sunday. Almeda held Marratxi to an opponent 20.4 percent shooting from the field compared to 37.9 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Marratxi 43-32 including 35 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of center Cristina Pujol (178-95) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds and Anna Grau (-89) who added 2 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. Almeda's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the losing side Laura Garcia responded with 10 points and Julia Batalla (-1) scored 9 points. Almeda have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to tenth place. Marratxi lost ninth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the fourteenth position with 14 games lost. Almeda will meet higher ranked Mataro (#6) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Marratxi will play against Casablanca (#5) and hope to win that game.
