There was no surprise in S'Arenal where 17th ranked Palma (3-15) was defeated by second ranked Granada (14-4) 87-77 on Wednesday. It was a great evening for the former international forward Pere Tomas (202-89, agency: Octagon Europe) who led his team to a victory scoring 17 points. American-Liberian guard Thomas Bropleh (196-91, college: Boise St., agency: Duran International) helped adding 11 points. Granada's coach Pablo Pin used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side Swedish swingman Karl Olle Lundqvist (199-99) responded with 21 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and American guard Elijah Brown (193-95, college: Oregon) scored 27 points (made all of his nine free throws !!!). Four Palma players scored in double figures. Granada maintains second place with 14-4 record having just one point less than leader Estudiantes. Loser Palma keeps the seventeenth position with 15 games lost. Granada will meet Coruna (#6) on the road in the next round. Palma will play against the league's leader Estudiantes (#1) in Madrid and hope to secure a win.
