Regular Season Round 19: Almansa - Huesca 87-80

Very expected game when 18th ranked Huesca (2-15) was defeated on the road by tenth ranked Almansa (9-8) 87-80 on Wednesday. Almansa dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Huesca's 24 and made 19-of-21 free shots (90.5 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Huesca 42-22 including a 29-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Almansa looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Huesca's players. It was a great evening for Haitian-Canadian forward Kevin Bercy (201-94, college: St.Francis X.) who led his team to a victory scoring 17 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. American Jalen Nesbitt (198-93, college: UNF, agency: Octagon Europe) helped adding 15 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists (made all of his nine free throws !!!). At the losing side point guard Ayoze Alonso (187-91) responded with 18 points and Jaime Fernandez (206-0) scored 11 points and 8 rebounds. Five Almansa and four Huesca players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Almansa moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Acunsa GBC. Huesca lost seventh consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 15 games lost. Almansa will meet Palencia (#10) on the road in the next round. Huesca will play against Caceres (#7) and hope to secure a win.
