Regular Season Round 18: Keflavik - Grindavik 85-65

Rather expected game when 7th ranked Grindavik (5-13) was crushed on the road by fifth ranked Keflavik (8-8) 85-65 on Wednesday. The game without a history. Keflavik led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Grindavik's 32. Keflavik looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was Venezuelan Daniela Wallen (182-95, college: Okla City) who had a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!), 14 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals (on 15-of-18 shooting from the field). The former international Anna Svansdottir (175-1) chipped in 14 points and 5 rebounds. Four Keflavik players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Robbi Ryan (170-97, college: Arizona St.) who recorded a double-double by scoring 27 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists and guard Hulda Olafsdottir (173-3) added 18 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Keflavik maintains fifth position with 8-8 record. Grindavik lost sixth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the seventh place with 13 games lost. Keflavik will meet league's second-placed Valur in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Grindavik will play against Haukar (#4) and hope to secure a win.
